To help support local traders affected by the COVID pandemic and to make town centres safe Carmarthenshire Council has annouced it is making some changes to 3 town cetres in Carmarthenshire (Carmarthen, Ammanford and Llanelli). One of the town centres where visitors and residents will see changes is Carmarthen town itself.

So what are the changes that are happening?

  • In Blue street, on street parking bays are being moved to allow increased pedestrian space, but new on-street parking bays including disabled parking bays will be made avaibale along the highway on Lammas Street.

  • The pedestration of areas of Carmarthen town centre including Queen Street. King Street, Notts Square and side street which means no access for vehicles from 10am-4pm daily

  • a number of one way pedestrain routes are also being introdued to help social distancing including along Jacksons Lane. the alleyways connecting Spilman Street with King Street and around the depot on Blue Street


The changes come into effect from Monday August 3rd 2020.

Also free parking in all council run car parks throughout August to help support local businesses and traders

From July 20th 2020 Pembrey Country Park will be opening the following:

Both adventure playgrounds

The Cobra Toboggan run- pre booking only on 01554 834443 

Cycle for all cycle hire- prebookings only on 01554 834443   

Pump Track open

There will be limited toilet factilites around the park (end of restaurant building/side of beach shop/Ski centre) Pembreys onsite Yr Orsaf restaurant open for takeaways and outdoor patio area dining 10am - 8pm   

Beach shop for cold drinks, ice creams and beach toys 11am - 6pm (weather permitting)

Ski Cafe open for takeaway, 10am - 5pm Camping for caravan/motorhomes with onboard facilities only


The visitor centre and Ski and activity centre remain closed at this time

Pembrey Country Park is now open daily from 6am-10pm. The parks onsite Bike Hire facility is is now available from the Ski and Activity Centre, but the centre and ski slope remains closed. The bike hire needs to be booked in advance via the following phone number: 01554 834443

Camping field bookings for caravans with facilities are open for stays from 20 July.No tent orders are currently being taken. Amwynder blocks remain closed

The Station with external seating is open between 11 am and 5 pm. Toilets are open outside the Station

Pembreys Beach Shop now open for ice cream and cold drinks between 11 am and 5 pm (weather permitting)

The on site restuarant Yr Orsaf avaiable for takeaway or outside dining, and avaiable daily from 11am -5pm.

The Visitor Centre and Ski and Activity Centre remains closed at this time
