As it been really cold outside recently, here are some tips from the NHS direct website on how you can keep yourself safe and healthy in the cold weather.
.1. Dress for the weather, if you do have to go out on cold, chilly or damp days.
2 Wear loose layers of clothing. The air between the layers helps to keep yourself warm.
3..Put on a hat, scarf and gloves
4. Wear a waterproof coat or jacket if it's snowy.
5. Change your clothes right away if they get damp or wet.
If you have a heart or respiratory problem, stay indoors during very cold weather or wear a scarf round your mouth when out for a walk. This prevents cold air going into the lungs.
Look in on vulnerable neighbours and relatives
Check up on older neighbours and relatives, and those with heart or respiratory (breathing) problems, to make sure they:
Make sure they are safe, well and warm enough , especially at night.have stocks of food and medicines so they don't need to go out during very cold weather
