Tour of Britain a huge success

The final stage of the OVO Women's Tour which took place last Saturday 15th June have been declared a huge success with thousands of people lining the route to cheer the cyclists on their 79 mile race through Carmarthenshire.

Carmarthenshire Council which hosted the race, thanked all communities, volunteers, businesses and spectators, as well as event staff, security,and emergency services, for helping making it a successful day for the county.

Stage six of the OVO Tour of Britain saw the best female cyclists in the world competing in a series of mountain climbs, sprints and descents through some of the county's most breath-taking landscape starting at the historic and recently renovated Carmarthen Velodrome , crossing the Black Mountains and ending at the Closed Road cycling circuit at Pembrey Country Park.

Communities across the county came out in force to provide a carnival atmosphere, with many putting on their own events and family activities.
